77 Years Young...

Yesterday, August 12th, was Granddaddy's 77th birthday!
Happy Birthday, Elliott!!

Brenda & Max treated Grandmama & Granddaddy both to a lovely [birthday] shrimp dinner from Rhineharts; YUM! (...we couldn't remember the last time Grandmama had shrimp!) They enjoyed it so much and ate in the comfort of Grandmama's room @ NHC.

Between the homecooked meals from Brenda over the weeks
(black-eyed peas + cornbread!),
the super tasty chicken & ribs from Mike & Teresa on Sunday
(and various other plates a-la M&T over the weeks),
a steak dinner from Kimmey & me Monday night,
and Rhineharts last night...I'd say Granddaddy has had some pleasant breaks in his recently adopted diet of sandwiches + canned beans and Vienna sausage (ick).

The birthday boy! (...ever the smiler.)

Ode to Bee's Knees Pad Thai

I called in...a late supper order
then crossed the bridge...which is also the border.
under-dressed at the bar, I patiently waited
for my Pad Thai; my tastebuds were baited.

(I also had a Bee's salad with ginger dressing; no tomatoes.)

super spicy & crunchy - my mouth all a tingle;
a plate where the noodles and flavors all mingle.
there's one slice of lime...which I never squeeze
a wheely bright garnish...the eyes it does please.

a lovely dinner - well worth short drive;
so much to enjoy my tummy did thrive.
for breakfast I saved the last few bites
Bee's Knees in the morning and Bee's Knees at night.

Gifted.

Super delicious meal from my very kind next door neighbors, Amy & David. I thought such a pretty plate deserved a photo...and after eating...I was glad I'd taken a picture - so the meal could be properly revered. It was SO good...

My very first weedeater! A thoughtful and useful gift from my Uncle Max & Aunt Brenda. Though it won't win any lawn of the week awards, my grass will at least be properly cut.
...and the weedeater is red!

A lovely housewarming gift from Dad & Maggie - one of my new favorite things.

"To the Chinese, frogs represent the lunar, yin principle. It was once believed that frogs came from the moon, hatching from eggs that fell from the sky with the dew, so their images were often used in rain ceremonies. Like all frogs, our little green friend symbolizes joy, luck, and transformation."
